Data Analysis Trends: Automated EDA. New Seminar at the PRBB!

In this seminar we will introduce researchers to the concept of Automated EDA, a high-throughput data analysis method to get the most out of our resources while addressing the broad question of “what is going on here?”.

Would you like to know more?

Who? When? Where?

The Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) will host our new seminar on automated exploratory data analysis.

The seminar is 100% FREE AND OPEN TO EVERYONE interested in exploratory data analysis. No registration is required despite we would appreciate if you drop us an email if you're interesed in attending. We'll be more than glad to meet you!

The seminar is organized by the UPF DCEXS (Department of Experimental and Health Sciences) and CRG (Centre for Genomic Regulation) researchers are also invited.

It will be held in English and is addressed to this professional profiles:

  • Principal Investigator

  • Senior Researcher

  • Lab Manager

  • Data Analysis Technician

Our CEO Ray G. Butler will talk about the key concepts of automated exploratory data analysis and why it is critical to maximize the scientific productivity in modern research labs.

Automated EDA

Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) is a well-established statistical tradition that provides conceptual and computational tools for discovering patterns to foster hypothesis fine tuning and their further development.

These tools and attitudes complement the use of significance and hypothesis tests used in Confirmatory Data Analysis (CDA). Even when well-specified theories are held, EDA becomes an ideal aid to CDA at the interpretation stage, which may then deliver insightful unexpected patterns in the data.

EDA tradition dates back to the early 1960s but the tools and procedures that are currently used have not evolved to handle the increasing volume of data, speed and complexity of our research projects, at least not in an efficient manner.

This seminar introduces the concept of Automated EDA as a high-throughput data analysis method to get the most out of our resources while addressing the broad question of “what is going on here?”.

Agenda

After introducing some theoretical concepts, we will take advantage of one our fruitful collaborations to show you how this analytic procedure was successfully applied.

Of course, there will be a specific space to discuss about your particular projects!
